I was able to pretty easily get a reservation here for lunch on Father's Day. I was told by friends to sit inside because during the summer (like all places in Brooklyn) there is a bit of a rat problem outdoors. So we sat inside - it's small but comfy. It feels like your everyday bar. I like the idea that it's an "anti-steakhouse steakhouse" in the sense that it's super casual but still has great steak. Everything we ordered was recommended to us by a friend and it didn't disappoint. The scallions, pan-fried mashed potatoes and rib-eye wen together so well. A good caesar never disappoints either. Will definitely be back.

St. Anselm never disappoints. I normally don't go to the same restaurant twice but St. Anselm is one of those that you do! Usually during the second visit, I get a little underwhelmed but something keeps making me want to go back for more. This time, it was the sticky toffee pudding. It was sweet and warm and paired so well with the ice cream. We got the iceberg salad with bacon this time and I was pleasantly surprised. How could a salad taste so good?! Because of the warm bacon dressing. We also ordered a weekly special - pork dish with an onion vinaigrette and peaches? I didn't love this although our waiter recommended it. I had the clams last time and wish I had stuck to that instead of getting something new. But you live and you learn. I always get the butchers steak because it's just seasoned so well and is so juicy. Maybe one day I'll try the porterhouse, I'm sure that'll be good as well! The ambience gives an old home style steakhouse and is perfect for a date night or group dinner with friends. Try to make reservations but we got were able to get seated at the bar with no wait on a Saturday night!

We came here for Father's Day and the food and service was excellent. I normally don't order Caesar salad but decided to try. I'm glad I did as it was one of the best I've had. Another standout on the meal was the season dessert. It was macerated strawberries with cookie crumble and basil. It had to be my top dessert of the year so far.

This has become one of my favorite restaurants in Brooklyn and I have been here many times. We always make reservations a couple days before. First off I LOVE the butcher's steak, I've ordered this so many times, it's buttery, salty and always cooked to perfections. They have the best creamed spinach and fried potatoes over all the other famous steak houses in NYC. Any vegetable side we try is always great. Last time we got the carrots with chimichurri and they were so tangy. I tried the salmon special and the chicken on occasions and they were both very delicious. But at the end of the day, I always go back to the steak. Last but not least all their desserts are amazing, cheese cake, pineapple upside down cake, and last time was a toffee pudding that was to die for!
